How many questions are on the TCOLE exam?
The state licensing exam is a multiple-choice test with roughly 250 questions, and a 70% correct answer rate is the commonly cited threshold for a passing score. Time limits and section structure are set by TCOLE and the testing vendor and can change; the exact format arrives with a recruit’s exam confirmation.
Is the TCOLE exam hard?
It covers a lot at once, from penal code and code of criminal procedure to arrest, search and seizure, traffic, patrol, and use of force. Recruits who study a bit at a time and work practice questions tend to be fine. The trouble usually comes from cramming the last week.
How should I study for the TCOLE exam?
Study from the Basic Peace Officer Course material your academy teaches, since the exam is built from it. Work through practice questions chapter by chapter, keep an eye on the topics you keep missing, and spread it over weeks instead of cramming.
